Frequently asked questions

Are my files uploaded?

No. This tool runs entirely in your browser, so your files never leave your device. It even works offline once the page has loaded.

Can I change the existing text?

Edit existing text (beta) covers the original with a patch of background colour and places your new text on top, matching the font as closely as it can. It works best on plain backgrounds, and the original text is hidden, not removed.

What's the difference between Cover and Redact?

Cover draws a white box: the text underneath is still in the file and can be copied. Redact permanently removes everything under the box by turning that page into an image when you save.

Can I use my own font?

Yes. Upload a TTF or OTF font for any text you add; it's embedded in the PDF and supports every script the font covers.
